Craig Shelton
I attended Freed-Hardeman University from 1991-1993 before getting married and moving back to Centerville in 1993. I graduated with a B.S. in Business Management with a minor in Communication and Bible from Lipscomb University in 1996. That same year I began work in the restaurant industry as well as a part-time Youth Minister with the Fairfield Church of Christ in Centerville. In 1997 I was given the opportunity to begin full-time Youth Ministry work at the Centerville Church of Christ in which I was blessed to work side by side with my mentor Paul Rogers. In 2004-2005 I worked as a school counselor at East Intermediate School and continued as the Youth Minister with the Centerville church. In 2005 following Paul’s death, I chose to remain full time with the Centerville church and move to the role of Operations Minister. After filling this position for two years I returned to the education field being hired at Hickman County High School as the At-Risk School Counselor and served this role from the Fall of 2007 to the end of the summer in 2012. During this time I attended Freed-Hardeman and attained a Masters in Education with emphasis in School Counseling. In August of 2012 I returned to Youth Ministry being rehired at the Centerville Church of Christ as Youth & Associate Minister.
I am the son of Charles & Linda Shelton and have lived in Centerville my entire life. I was blessed to marry the girl of my dreams and my high school crush(even though she was unaware at the time), Misty Loveless of Centerville, TN. She is forever an encourager to me and makes it possible for me to do what I do. Born and raised in the Centerville church, Misty has a Masters in Education with emphasis in Administration. She has been employed by the Hickman County Board of Education since 1993 beginning at the Centerville Elementary School. Of that time, she spent the first 10 years as a first and second grade teacher and as the Principal of that school for the preceding 10 years. She is now the Director of Accountability for the school system. We have two children; Colby and Harper. Colby is attending Freed-Hardeman University where he is also a member of the FHU Golf team. Harper is in the Senior High group, plays golf, basketball, and softball. Both are blessings to my life and teach me lessons on a daily basis.
It is a joy to my life to be a part of the work at the Centerville Church of Christ. This church has been a huge part of my makeup well before being employed here. I was in the youth group, interned the summers of 1990 and 1991, and I have spent almost every summer (except two) at Camp Meribah since the age of 12. May God continue to bless this great church and may we do all we can to look to Jesus and “follow His path” each day.
